Agfa is launching two innovative product lines in the field of polymeric re-enforced flat sheet membranes, the result of a joined R&D project with VITO, the Flemish Institute for Technological Research. In this project, the many years of experience that Agfa-Gevaert has in the area of industrial coating processes and product development, are combined with the knowledge of VITO in the area of polymer membranes and their various applications.

This collaboration now results in two commercial membrane products:

Zirfon Perl membranes - for use in alkaline Hydrogen production processes
Zirfon Perl, a membrane that has excellent functional abilities as a separator in the Alkaline Hydrogen Production process. The membranes are standard available on customized format sheets. The maximum format is 1.65 m x 2.0 m.

EcoDur membranes/modules - for use in water treatment applications (MBR & MF)
EcoDur, a MBR membrane module for submersed waste water treatment is being prepared for its commercial launch in Q1 of 2011. First reference sites are under construction.
